QUESTION: How does the EQO compare in power to comparable Gas ATV's?
ANSWER: Overall equal. Stronger low-end torque. The low-end torque is easy to control.
QUESTION: How fast does the EQO go?
ANSWER: 24 mph.
QUESTION: What type of suspension does the EQO have?
ANSWER: 4 wheel independent suspension with adjustable coil over shock.
QUESTION: How much does the EQO weigh?
ANSWER: 975 lbs (including standard battery pack).
QUESTION: How much can the EQO tow?
ANSWER: 1500 lbs (trailer and load combined). It can pull more, but Barefoot recommends the loaded trailer weight not significantly exceed the weight of the towing vehicle.
QUESTION: How far will it go?
ANSWER: This depends on load, terrain, and driving style. Up to 25 miles light duty, less when towing or doing heavier work.
QUESTION: How much weight can the front and rear racks hold?
ANSWER: 250lbs each front and rear racks, plus rider.
QUESTION: What is the stability on steep terrain?
ANSWER: The EQO exceeds all ANSI stability requirements. It has a naturally low center of gravity as a result of the battery and motor placement on the vehicle.
QUESTION: What is the expected motor life?
ANSWER: The only wear element in the motor are the brushes, which are replaceable. Test vehicles at the motor manufacturer's location have been using the same brushes for over 8 years.
QUESTION: What type of batteries does the EQO use?
ANSWER: Lithium Iron Phosphate, which is currently considered the safest, most robust lithium-based battery solution for vehicle use.
QUESTION: What is the voltage of the EQO?
ANSWER: All current vehicles have an 48 volt battery pack, and 48 volt drive system. Lights and accessories operate in a 12 volt system.
QUESTION: Are the batteries hazardous?
ANSWER: The batteries have been tested for fire/explosion characteristics by the manufacturer. Even when dead shorted, they do not overheat or explode. Chemicals in the battery are benign according to their Material Safety Data Sheets.
QUESTION: What is the life expectancy of the batteries?
ANSWER: The battery manufacturer warranties the batteries for a minimum of 1000 complete discharge/recharge cycles. With partial discharges, the batteries can easily be cycled (recharged) over 2000 times. For most users, this translates to well over five years.
QUESTION: What type of charging system does it use?
ANSWER: The standard on-board charger is a 110 volt unit, which plugs into any standard outlet with a 15 amp minimum circuit breaker.
QUESTION: How long does it take to fully charge the EQO?
ANSWER: About 12 hrs with the on-board charger if the battery back is fully depleted.
QUESTION: Do I have to fully discharge the battery before recharging?
ANSWER: No. We encourage "opportunity charging" whenever power is available. The batteries do not have a "memory" and perform better with frequent recharging.
QUESTION: Can I charge the vehicle overnight without worry?
ANSWER: Yes. The EQO has a microprocessor that will turn the charger off when the vehicle is fully charged. We recommend leaving it plugged in when not in use so the charger can maintain the batteries.
QUESTION: How do I know when I am almost out of battery?
ANSWER: The instrumentation includes a low voltage warning light that comes on when there is approximately 3 miles left in the pack, as well as an odometer that shows miles driven since last recharge.
QUESTION: What maintenance will the EQO regularly require?
ANSWER: The EQO requires very little maintenance. All batteries are sealed and require no service. All bearings are sealed. The only oil is inside the differentials. The only grease fittings are on the suspension pivots and U-joints. A complete maintenance schedule is in the manual.
QUESTION: Since it is electric who can work on the EQO?
ANSWER: A certified Barefoot Motors Service Technician or a mechanic with a solid background in Electronics. 48vdc 100 amps is dangerous unless proper safety procedures are followed.
QUESTION: Can the EQO be power washed?
ANSWER: Yes. We have designed the EQO with that possibility in mind. We have taken measures to seal and protect the various components and electronics.
QUESTION: Does the EQO have a 12V outlet or output so I can hook up an accessory?
ANSWER: Yes. It has a 12v outlet on the dash and two 12v outlets at the rear that are controlled by a switch on the dash.
QUESTION: Does the EQO have a tow hitch?
ANSWER: Industry-standard 2" receivers are mounted at the rear and at the front of the EQO.
